NUTRITIONAL THERAPY: THE WAY FORWARD
Sometimes we need advice and guidance that is specifically tailored to our personal circumstances.
Perhaps you’ve tried diets or fitness regimes that just aren’t giving you the results you want to see. Maybe you have particular needs that you don’t feel comfortable discussing in a group situation. Or it could be that you know you respond much more positively to personalised instruction.
If so, then a one-to-one cycle of nutritional therapy is the perfect option for you.
One-to-one services can be booked alongside or independently of your membership of TDLP.

WHAT IS NUTRITIONAL THERAPY?
I'm Jack Ruston. I'm a qualified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and founder of The Diet & Lifestyle Project.
To find out more about me and my background, click here.
Before deciding whether a one-to-one option is right for you, let me talk you through what nutritional therapy involves and what I, as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, can do for you.

NTPs take a foundational approach, supporting health on a number of ‘pillars’, including a nutrient-dense diet, optimal digestion, blood sugar regulation, mineral balance, fatty acid balance and hydration.
We do not diagnose or cure disease and we are not a replacement for your doctor. Rather, our goal is to put people in a position where they need their doctor less.
Our world is that of the symptoms so many of us have come to normalise as ‘part of life’: IBS, heartburn, fatigue, joint pain, constipation, poor immune function and autoimmune conditions, cravings, inability to lose fat, dehydration, irritability or shakiness if a meal is delayed and so on.
We will ‘meet a client where they are’ and guide them, in manageable steps, towards better systemic health.
By applying these principles to myself as well as to my clients, rather than declining through my 40s (something we’ve been conditioned to expect), I’ve found that I’m stronger, sharper and functioning more fully than ever.
I have been able to address my symptoms, to heal my gut, change my body composition and manage the inevitable stressors that life throws my way.
I can teach you to do the same.
"The detailed assessment of what I was eating (and why), together with a totally non-judgemental approach to where I was and where I want to get to, has been a revelation. Jack has really helped with excellent ideas on how to incorporate the good stuff into my busy life, even at times of stress."
Dr Rachel Boyce, General Practitioner

But what will I eat?
Recommendations could include certain food swaps or substitutions, a rebalancing of macronutrients, the sharing of recipes and cooking techniques, food or supplement-based support for specific micronutrients, guided exclusion diets and reintroductions, as well as targeted recommendations relating to lifestyle factors like sleep, stress management and movement.
I avoid simply meal planning for clients because that doesn’t provide them with the knowledge to move on without my help. Instead, I prefer to work with clients to identify the stumbling blocks in their current approach, and provide strategies for implementing the improvements that will serve them in the long term.
It might be that I suggest the involvement of a doctor or another practitioner to ensure that your specific issues are tackled from every angle.
HOW IT WORKS
1 Get in touch
Click here to contact me to schedule an informal chat to establish whether we might be a good fit for working together. If so, I will set you up as a client on the Nutri-Q system, which will send you some forms...
2 Complete the paperwork
a) The Initial Interview Questionnaire: Basic details, goals and some history.
b) The Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire: A simple list of tick-box questions.
c) The Food and Mood Journal: A record of your intake for a few days, with notes on how you feel, your energy levels and digestion. It’s a bit of an undertaking, but it’s incredibly useful for both of us.
3 Initial interview
Once I've reviewed the forms, we schedule an in-depth meeting (60-90 minutes) by phone or in-person to clarify any points that either of us want to raise. I'll then put together a set of recommendations which will be emailed to you securely.
4 Recommendations
The recommendations document sets out your situation as I see it, discusses and explains the factors that may be affecting you, suggests a 'destination' for our work together and the action steps required to get us there. We'll have another meeting (60-90 minutes) to go through my recommendations and to establish which, if any, you’re ready to try.
5 Further meetings
After a few weeks we meet again (30-60 minutes) to follow up, making any changes required. This follow-up cycle might happen a number of times, working on this together for a period of three months initially. Free access to The Diet & Lifestyle Project will be provided during this period.

How much does it cost?
The cost of the three-month Nutritional Therapy package is £699, invoiced at the outset and due before the Initial Interview (see step 3 above).
If, after the initial three months, you feel the need for further support, I can provide that in the form of follow-up calls or meetings, emails and messages, charged either on a monthly basis (£199 per month) or as part of a continuation package (£499 for three months).
